Hello, and welcome to Snoozy Hills.
Whatever brought you here (winding down, settling in to focus, or just needing a quiet moment), I hope this little window of calm helps. Take a slow breath. There's no rush here.
I made this to be gentle, free and ad-free. If it brings you a bit of peace and you'd like to say thanks, a coffee keeps it that way for everyone.

Grey Screen: a plain, neutral grey
A flat, neutral mid-grey across the whole display: #808080, exactly halfway between black and white. It has no tint, no animation and nothing drawn over it.
Mid-grey is what photographers and calibration tools use because it shows up colour casts and uneven brightness that white or black hide. It is also simply a restful colour to leave on.
What a grey screen shows you Look at the screen from straight on and from the side. Any pink, green or blue tinge in the corners is a colour cast; any brighter or darker patches are uniformity problems. Both are much easier to see on grey than on white.
Photographers also use it to set a custom white balance: fill the camera frame with the screen and set white balance from it.

Questions
Is it 18% grey? It is #808080, which is 50% signal grey. On a typical display that is close to, but not exactly, an 18% reflectance grey card; it is fine for spotting casts and uniformity problems.
Can I get a lighter or darker grey? Not on this page; it is a single fixed grey. The white and black screens give you the two ends.
Is it free? Yes. It runs right in your browser: no app, no sign-up and no ads covering the screen.
How do I make it full screen? Press F or the full-screen button. The controls and cursor hide by themselves after a few seconds. Move the mouse to bring them back.
Does it work on a TV, tablet or phone? Yes. Open the page in any modern browser. On a smart TV or a casted screen it makes a calm ambient background for the room.
